Sterile Manufacturing and Central Weigh projects

Sterile Manufacturing and Central Weigh projects - Manati, Puerto Rico

Overview

G/BA was hired to provide on-site consulting and infrastructure studies, evaluating sterile manufacturing and central weigh facilities. We worked with the owner and other consultants and contractors to identify issues and recommend solutions.

After the evaluations and studies were completed, G/BA was contracted to provide detailed design of mechanical and electrical upgrades. Design and construction schedules for this $4.2 million project were extremely aggressive. Project phasing was carefully analyzed in the design to minimize downtime in critical sterile manufacturing areas.

Features

  • G/BA analyzed the existing facility for compliance wtih user requirements provided by the owner.
  • Numerous modifications were recommended after G/BA completed load calculations, pressurization analysis, field surveys, and reviews of clean room performance.
  • G/BA created functional specifications for controls for more than 30 air handling units. We reviewed the existing building automation system sequences, hardware, and programming for each system for technical issues and compliance with the user requirements. Required changes were incorporated into project bid documents.
  • G/BA engineered replacement of numerous systems, including air handling units, heat transfer packages, chilled water piping, ductwork, and ventilation systems for sterile manufacturing, compounding, packaging, and central weigh areas. In some cases, we recommended reconfiguration or modifications to existing systems.
  • The project was divided into nine separate bid packages to facilitate the use of multiple contractors and to accommodate project accounting and schedules.
  • To shorten the design and construction schedule, G/BA issued numerous prepurchase documents for long-lead equipment.
