GBA’s Chicago, Milwaukee, and New York regional offices promoted five staff members at the recent semi-annual meeting:
- Shawn Campbell was promoted to Project Manager
- Nik Desai, PE, was promoted to Project Manager
- Sam Danneker, PE, was promoted to Senior Project Engineer
- Kyle McKnight was promoted to Senior Project Engineer
- May Smith was promoted to Network Administrator
Shawn Campbell joined our Evanston office in 2018. A 2011 graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering, Shawn holds a Bachelors of Architectural Engineering degree. He is responsible for electrical engineering design and electrical systems commissioning projects for multiple facility types, including commercial, healthcare, higher education, laboratory, and senior living facilities.
Nik Desai joined our Milwaukee regional office in 2024. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Miami University of Ohio in 2020. His responsibilities include the design and commissioning of power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, security, voice-data, and fire alarm systems. He has served as an electrical engineer on numerous projects in mission critical, pharmaceutical, governmental, and industrial facilities.
Sam Danneker joined the Evanston office in 2023. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2018. He is an experienced electrical engineer whose work includes medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting design, and general electrical equipment design. He has expertise in data centers, mission critical facilities, and commercial buildings. His work has spanned diverse sectors including higher education, cultural, commercial, healthcare and governmental.
Kyle McKnight joined our New York regional office in 2024. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University in 2018. He has past experience in engineering design and consulting, including M/P/FP design for pharmaceutical and industrial projects as well as managing third-party inspections and MEP design in NYC commercial spaces. His major projects have included extensive design work at MoMA and Westchester Country Club.
May Smith joined the IT team at our Evanston regional office in 2023. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking and Service Technology from Dalton State College in 2020. She previously held the role of Assistant Network Administrator and will take on expanded responsibilities while continuing to provide troubleshooting and network assistance across three offices.
GBA congratulates these team members for their valuable ongoing contributions to the firm, which specializes in energy and resource consulting for large, energy-intensive facilities as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical/specialty gas design services; commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring-based commissioning; energy and resource benchmarking; energy conservation studies; MEP infrastructure planning and upgrades; LEED and Green Globes consulting; sustainability consulting and code compliance; and computerized building modeling. Founded in 1973 in Evanston, IL, the company also has offices in Wisconsin (Madison, Wauwatosa) and the New York metropolitan area (Hoboken, NJ).
