GBA Promotes Four Engineers

GBA’s Chicago regional office promoted four staff members in July.

  • Ben Andes, PE, CCP, CBCP, was promoted to Project Manager.
  • George Ioannou, PE, QCxP, was promoted to Project Manager.
  • William J. Niemira, PE, was promoted to Senior Project Engineer.
  • Michael Rubino was promoted to Project Engineer.

Ben Andes joined GBA’s Evanston office in 2015. He graduated with a BS in Architectural Engineering and a BA in Liberal Arts from the University of Texas in 2008. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and an Engineer-in-Training in Texas. He specializes in commissioning for new and existing facilities, and has expertise in complex system integration, programming, and system troubleshooting. His work is generally focused on serving clients in the higher education and healthcare sectors.

George Ioannou became a member of the Evanston office in 2014. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois. George’s work ranges from industrial and mission-critical energy studies to commissioning and retro-commissioning for clients in multiple market sectors. His recent focuses include healthcare, higher education, multifamily residential, and senior living facilities.

William J. Niemira joined the Evanston office in 2018. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in General Engineering in 2008 and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2013. Will’s areas of specialization include analytical work and electrical systems design and commissioning for commercial, healthcare, hotel, laboratory, and academic facilities.

Michael Rubino was hired by the Evanston office in 2020. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2017, as well as a Masters in Renewable and Clean Energy in 2018. He specializes in commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring-based commissioning for clients in diverse sectors. His experience also includes benchmarking to meet municipal and organizational requirements.

GBA congratulates these team members for their valuable ongoing contributions to the firm, which specializes in energy and resource consulting for large, energy-intensive facilities as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical/specialty gas design services; commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring-based commissioning; energy and resource benchmarking; energy conservation studies; MEP infrastructure planning and upgrades; LEED and Green Globes consulting; and computerized building modeling. Founded in 1973 in Evanston, IL, the company also has offices in Wisconsin (Madison, Wauwatosa) and the New York metropolitan area (Hoboken, NJ).
