Jason McDonald

GBA Project Manager Jason McDonald, CPD, FASPE, ASSE 6060, has been elevated to the rank of Fellow by the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).

An integral member of the Illinois office’s plumbing engineering team for more than 25 years, Jason is a leader in plumbing systems analysis and design. He is also an expert in medical gas and specialty gas systems for healthcare facilities and laboratories.

A longtime volunteer with the ASPE, he is currently serving as the society’s Vice President, Membership. He is also active with the group’s Membership Committee and is an Ambassador for the ASPE Chicago Chapter. With his elevation to FASPE status, Jason joins an elite group of individuals who have made significant and exceptional contributions to the plumbing engineering profession, the Society, and the plumbing industry. Members who are given Fellow status retain the designation as a lifetime honor. About 90 plumbing professionals have been inducted in the Kenneth G. Wentink College of Fellows since ASPE initiated the honor in 2008.

Jason’s project experience spans a wide variety of facility types, from a major redevelopment of the Oakbrook Center shopping mall to large-scale expansions at various hospitals (including multiple Advocate and Ascension facilities) to pharmaceutical and laboratory projects for clients such as Zoetis and AbbVie. He is GBA’s second team member to attain FASPE status; Associate Joe Ficek, CPD, GPD, FASPE, became a Fellow in 2014.

GBA congratulates Jason on this significant career achievement and appreciates his valuable ongoing contributions to the firm, which specializes in energy and resource consulting for large, energy-intensive facilities as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical/specialty gas design services; commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring-based commissioning; energy and resource benchmarking; energy conservation studies; MEP infrastructure planning and upgrades; LEED and Green Globes consulting; and computerized building modeling. Founded in 1973 in Evanston, IL, the company also has offices in Wisconsin (Madison, Wauwatosa) and the New York metropolitan area (Hoboken, NJ).
