GBA Promotes Five Employees

GBA’s Chicago regional office promoted five staff members at the recent semi-annual meeting:

  • Kevin Vander Klay, PE, QCxP, LEED AP, was promoted to Associate.
  • Heather Beaudoin, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CEM, BEMP, GBE, was promoted to Associate.
  • Abigail Steimel, CEM, was promoted to Project Engineer.
  • Mildred Kwan was promoted to Project Coordinator/Executive Assistant.
  • Tiffany Totera was promoted to Marketing Communications and Design Manager.

Kevin Vander Klay joined GBA’s Evanston office in 2005. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2000. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and an Engineer-in-Training in Indiana. He specializes in MEP design projects, commissioning, and retro-commissioning. His work is generally focused on serving clients in healthcare, education, and data centers.

Heather Beaudoin joined the Evanston office in 2008. She earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1996 and obtained her MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 2002. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois. Heather’s work focuses on energy management and modeling, commissioning, and LEED services for clients in multiple market sectors. She also leads the Evanston office’s internal Sustainability Tracking Committee, or “Green Team.”

Abigail Steimel joined the Evanston office in 2022. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2020, and recently passed the test to qualify as a Professional Engineer in Illinois. Abigail’s work focuses on mechanical engineering, including multiple engineering software applications. Recipient of the James W. Bayne Award for Outstanding Senior Design at the University of Illinois, she serves clients in education, healthcare, science/technology, and other sectors.

Mildred Kwan became a member of the Evanston administrative team in 2022.  She holds a BS in Speech, Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University. She previously held the role of Administrative Coordinator and continues to assist the commissioning team and principals in her new role.

Tiffany Totera joined the Evanston marketing department in 2016. She holds a BS in Communications from Ohio University. Previously the Senior Marketing Coordinator, she assists with the firm’s marketing and graphic design efforts.

GBA congratulates these team members for their valuable ongoing contributions to the firm, which specializes in energy and resource consulting for large, energy-intensive facilities as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical/specialty gas design services; commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring-based commissioning; energy and resource benchmarking; energy conservation studies; MEP infrastructure planning and upgrades; LEED and Green Globes consulting; and computerized building modeling. Founded in 1973 in Evanston, IL, the company also has offices in Wisconsin (Madison, Wauwatosa) and the New York metropolitan area (Hoboken, NJ).
