The Opportunity
Grumman|Butkus Associates is adding an experienced Electrical Engineer to our team based in metro Chicago (Evanston, IL). GBA brings together the expertise of talented engineers to offer high-end, sustainable building consulting and MEP engineering services for blue-chip clients across numerous critical spaces in the built environment. Our services include design for HVAC, electrical power and lighting, low voltage systems, plumbing and fire protection systems, building electrification, net zero energy, commissioning, and sustainability consulting.
Your Role
- Performing electrical power design for a variety of projects, including but not limited to buildings and facilities (hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential, hotel, office, and other commercial and institutional projects)
- Incorporating design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software
- Performing service load calculations, branch circuit sizing, and short circuit studies
- Meeting project schedules and performing work within budgetary constraints
- Attending meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss future or current projects
- Reviewing submittals and providing responses to Requests for Information
- Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
- Pursuing continuous professional development and maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Six to 12 years of experience in the design of building power systems for healthcare, higher education, high-rise residential, hotel, and office buildings, and other commercial, institutional facilities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook)
- Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment
- PE registration is highly preferred, or EIT with the ability to obtain a PE
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
- Knowledge of SKM PowerTools power simulation software (preferred)
- Knowledge of AGi32 lighting photometric software (preferred)
