GBA’s Chicago, Milwaukee and New York regional offices promoted 10 staff members at the recent semi-annual meeting:
- Fiona Martin McCarthy, PE, QCxP, BEAP, LEED AP, and Luis Contreras, CEM, BCxP, CEA, LEED AP, were promoted to Associate Vice President.
- Alex Schultz, PE, LEED AP, and Willis Perley III, PE, were promoted to Associate.
- Justin D’Arcy, PE, was promoted to Director of Analytics.
- Russell Williams, PE, and Tim Wong, PE, LEED AP BD+C, were promoted to Project Manager.
- Bob O’Neill, EIT, was promoted to Senior Project Engineer.
- Matt Serafin was promoted to Project Engineer.
- Shoshana Stutts was promoted to Marketing Director.
Fiona Martin McCarthy joined the Evanston office in 2010. She graduated from the University of Dayton with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2008, as well as a Master of Science in Renewable & Clean Energy in 2009. As a mechanical engineer specializing in energy efficiency and sustainable design, she works on energy and resource benchmarking, energy conservation studies, LEED consulting, energy efficient systems, sustainability consulting, commissioning, and retro-commissioning projects.
Luis Contreras joined the Hoboken office in 2013. He graduated from State University of New York Maritime College with a Bachelor’s in Engineering in 2000. Luis has more than 25 years of engineering experience, including design, commissioning, and test and balance experience. He is the leader of GBA’s New York regional office, where he directs projects in many sectors, including healthcare, education, science/technology, commercial, multifamily residential, and hospitality.
Alexander Schultz joined the Evanston office in 2007, shortly after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Alex has responsibilities in energy studies and mechanical building system design. He serves clients in multiple sectors, including healthcare, higher education, commercial science/technology, and hospitality.
Willis Perley III joined the Evanston office in 2016 and moved to the Wauwatosa office in 2020. He graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016. His diverse experience includes electrical engineering design and commissioning for commercial, governmental, higher education, hospitality, healthcare, multifamily residential, and laboratory projects.
Justin D’Arcy joined the Evanston office in 2015. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton in 2014. Justin’s areas of specialization include commissioning, retro-commissioning, and building automation systems. He is also the primary developer of GBA’s Trend Sumo® fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) software platform, which automates processing of trend data to help identify energy efficiency opportunities, and the Energy Sumo® energy dashboard platform.
Russell Williams joined the Evanston office in 2021. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2016. Russell is experienced in mechanical systems design, project management, and construction administration, as well as plumbing and fire protection systems. His work has primarily been focused on the healthcare sector.
Tim Wong joined the Hoboken office in 2025. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University in 2015. Tim is an experienced engineer with expertise in MEP design and project management for facilities in multiple sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, government, and higher education.
Matthew Serafin joined the Hoboken office in 2023. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from New York University in 2023. Matthew is an experienced commissioning and retro-commissioning engineer, working in a variety of facility types across multiple sectors, including commercial, cultural, education, and pharmaceutical.
Bob O’Neill joined the Evanston office in 2024. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Missouri-St. Louis and Washington University in 2020. Bob is a sustainability focused engineer who specializes in retro-commissioning, monitoring-based commissioning, and commissioning across multiple sectors including commercial, hospitality, healthcare, and education.
Shoshana Stutts joined the Evanston office in 2024. She has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing and proposal management in the A/E/C industry. Shoshana is a member of SMPS Chicago, CREW Chicago, and the Illinois Green Alliance. She previously held the position of Assistant Marketing Director and will take on expanded marketing responsibilities, while managing firm proposals and qualifications.
